Changing Tables

There are so many alternative pieces of furniture you can use instead of a typical changing table.  Why spend money on a piece of furniture that will only be used for a short amount of time?  Personally, I think they are a waste of money when you can find a unique piece that can double it’s purpose after the diaper years.

Find an awesome dresser, counter height at about 30″ tall and simply add a changing pad to the top.    Turn your changing station into the focal point of the room!  I LOVE this bold, yellow dresser.

I also love this sleek, modern look.  So sophisticated and chic.  You can barely tell it’s a changing table!

This can easily be used throughout the years as shelf display for books, toys, etc.

Would you rather not see the changing table at all?  There are several modern solutions!

The studio crib is a perfect solution for small spaces.  The crib serves multiple purposes- changing table, toddler bed, and when the time comes the changing table turns into a desk.  Available at Nursery Works.

Custom cabinetry is also a wonderful option for those who like to keep things hidden.

Here is something very chic, a fold down changing table!  Can you see it?

Want a more traditional, yet modern changing table?  There are so many modern choices to choose from these days, many in coordinating nursery sets.

Modern Playrooms

A playroom is the perfect room to really think outside the box while decorating.  It’s not the room to be scared of color, shoot for fun and imaginative!  These simple concepts will lead to hours of playtime for your modern tot!

Before you get started, here are a few things to think of:

Storage, storage, storage!!!  There is never enough storage for toys, games, and crafts.  I personally prefer doors or cabinets to hide unused items.

Color!  Get those paint brushes out and use your favorite color or colors to paint those walls.  Chalk paint is also an excellent choice for playrooms. Paint is the most affordable way to redesign a room and give it a fresh, new look. Another great way to add splashes of color, throw pillows and floor cushions.  Try large patterns and bold colors.

Get creative!  This is a room for lots of imaginary play time.  Think back to when you were a kid and go wild.  I still remember to this day looking at a model home with my parents and I fell in love with the ballet bar in the “bonus room.”  I wanted one SOOOO bad!    I will also warn you not to go with a very specific theme because we all know kids have a new favorite by the week.  Choose items that will grow with your kids, at least through the childhood years and general neutral colors and theme if your family is still expanding.

Here are a few inspirations to get you rolling….
